City of West Hollywood issued the following announcement on Dec. 23.
The City of West Hollywood has been awarded with a Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting and an Award of Financial Reporting Achievement by the GFOA of the US & Canada for the 28th consecutive year.
The City’s Annual Financial Report is a set of detailed financial statements, which are accompanied by a thorough presentation of the City’s financial condition. The government must publish an easily readable and efficiently organized annual financial report, which must satisfy both generally accepted accounting principles and applicable legal requirements.
The report was judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program, which includes demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the report.
The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.
