WASHINGTON, D.C. – On April 18 Congressman Jimmy Gomez (CA-34), Chair and Founder of the Congressional Dads Caucus, released the following statement on President Joe Biden’s executive order to increase access to child care and improve the work life of caregivers:

“The soaring cost of quality, accessible child care is an existential threat to the livelihood of working parents who are on track to spend nearly as much of their income on housing as on childcare,” said Rep. Jimmy Gomez (CA-34). “The Biden administration’s executive actions today are an important marker showing a commitment to improve childcare options in the face of Republican obstruction. The next step requires Congress to listen to working parents by investing in the care economy to make child care more readily available, higher in quality, and affordable.”
