During an inspection on April 5, 2024, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued six citations to Samyang America, Inc. in Los Angeles for concerns involving foodborne biological hazards, according to data posted on the FDA’s website.
The FDA website indicates that the citations were delivered to the company as follows:
- ‘You did not develop an FSVP.’
- ‘You did not have a written hazard analysis.’
- ‘Your hazard analysis did not identify a hazard that requires a control.’
- ‘You did not establish written procedures to ensure that you import foods only from approved foreign suppliers.’
- ‘You did not establish adequate written procedures for ensuring that appropriate foreign supplier verification activities are conducted with respect to a food you import.’
- ‘You did not ensure that the unique facility identifier recognized as acceptable by FDA was/were provided electronically when filing entry with the U.S. Customs and Border Protection.’
The FDA routinely inspects facilities across the nation to determine if the workplace and their products are compliant with FDA-regulated laws and regulations implemented to improve overall public health. Inspection results are then disclosed publicly.
According to its website, the FDA is a government agency that is primarily responsible for monitoring the production and distribution of human and animal drugs, biological products, medical supplies and tobacco products for safety and quality.
