Washington State Cougars’ Erik Rodriguez, a former Salesian High School standout, pitched as his team fell 8-5 to the Utah Utes in an NCAA Division I baseball game at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, March 17.

The matchup was held at Smith’s Ballpark. It marked the first meeting of the season between the Cougars and the Utes.

Rodriguez threw for 1.2 innings in relief, notching two strikeouts.

Washington State is set to host the Grand Canyon Antelopes at Bailey-Brayton Field on Friday, March 20, in their upcoming contest.
