Rep. Jimmy Gomez, who represents California’s 34th district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of updates on social media regarding local community issues and federal policy decisions.

On August 29, 2025, Gomez addressed concerns about postal services in Los Angeles’ Chinatown neighborhood: “My team and I are monitoring this situation. The Contract Postal Unit has served our Chinatown community for decades. We’ve submitted an official inquiry and will get to the bottom of this.”

The following day, August 30, he commented on proposed changes to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), stating: “Trump’s ‘Big Beautiful Bill’ makes the deepest cuts to SNAP ever, forcing seniors to choose between paying the bills or putting food on the table. I’m proud to stand with groups like St. Vincent Meals on Wheels, who step up for the seniors and families Trump is leaving behind.”

Later that same day, Gomez announced a speaker addition for an upcoming housing event: ” SPEAKER ANNOUNCEMENT We welcome @repdeliaramirez, Co-Chair of the Congressional Homelessness Caucus, as a speaker at our National Housing Summit! Excited to work alongside her to prevent homelessness and ensure everyone has place to call home.”

Gomez has been serving in Congress since 2017 after replacing Xavier Becerra. He previously represented California’s 34th District in both federal and state legislatures and was a member of the California State Assembly from 2012 until his congressional election. Born in Orange County in 1974, Gomez currently resides in Los Angeles and is an alumnus of UCLA.
