“[House Republicans’ debt limit bill] is a default on America. This is about creating chaos with the American economy and with American people. It is all about cutting, cutting, cutting programs that keep people alive: Medicaid, Medicare, Social Security, veterans’ benefits. The debt ceiling is about our obligations as a country to pay our bills. So, if we are cutting what we need to actually pay our bills, then we’re actually gonna be putting American lives at risk.”
