At 9 a.m. on the Health Sciences Campus, the MD students of the class of 2023 tore open their assigned, sealed envelopes in sync with students across the nation. It was Match Day, an annual, nationwide event taking place on March 17, where soon-to-be MDs learn which of their top choices for residency selected them — and where they will spend the next phase of their medical training.

As soon as the designated moment arrived, the anxious rustle of tearing paper soon gave way to shouts of delight as students learned their successful matches.
