The Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) and Hyundai Motor Company have announced the extension of their partnership through 2037. This collaboration, which began in 2015, is noted as the largest programmatic commitment from a corporate partner in LACMA’s history.
As part of this renewed agreement, two major initiatives will shape the next phase of their work together. The first is a new exhibition series titled Hyundai Project. Starting in 2028, LACMA will present a biennial survey focusing on an artist with strong connections to Los Angeles and the Pan Pacific region. Each featured artist will also create a large-scale banner for display on the exterior of the Broad Contemporary Art Museum (BCAM).
The second initiative involves expanded support for LACMA’s Art + Technology Lab. With Hyundai Motor’s continued backing, this program aims to increase its reach and impact.
Further details about these projects are expected to be released by LACMA and Hyundai Motor.
LACMA serves as the largest art museum in the western United States, according to its official website. The museum holds more than 150,000 works spanning 6,000 years and features collections from regions including Asia, Latin America, Europe, and the Islamic world. It offers exhibitions, educational programs, public events, research facilities, conservation efforts, and free admission for Los Angeles County residents after 3 p.m. on weekdays.
