Matt Ghanem, the CEO of National Breathe Free, said Dr. Matt Hershcovitch of SoCal Breathe Free Sinus & Allergy Centers has been honored with an in-house award for leadership called the Extreme Ownership Award.

“Extreme Ownership is a concept by (author and U.S. Navy officer) Jocko Willink: Leaders must own everything in their world,” Ghanem told the LAX Leader. “You — as a leader — are responsible for your team’s failures, regardless of your rank or position. No one has demonstrated more Extreme Ownership than Dr. H. He has worked tirelessly to help patients breathe free and live well in a very competitive SoCal market.”

Ghanem and Dr. Manish Khanna, the organization’s chief medical officer, founded the first Breathe Free Sinus & Allergy Center in the summer of 2018, and since then 18 new Breathe Free clinics have opened across the country.

Prior to founding Breathe Free, Ghanem held leadership positions in the hospitality business, as well as the medical device industry, specifically related to ear, nose and throat (ENT). Ghanem earned his undergraduate degree in communications and political science from the University of Pittsburgh and then went on to earn his MBA from the George Washington University Graduate School of Business.

National Breathe Free Sinus & Allergy Centers are proud to offer high-quality, patient-friendly ear, nose and throat care across the country. The Breathe Free team is guided by compassion, integrity, accountability, commitment and gratitude.

Hershcovitch is a double board-certified physician who specializes in treating patients with ENT disorders. He earned a degree in nuclear engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and then earned his medical degree from the State University of New York (SUNY).

“My interest in medicine started in college, where I worked part-time as a medic,” Hershcovitch told LAX Leader. “I found my time working on an ambulance more exciting than my initial plan to become an engineer. I decided that a career in medicine was what I wanted to be doing. I thought about combining my talents and specializing in radiation oncology; however, I fell in love with surgery during medical school. In particular, I found head and neck surgery very interesting and exciting.”

SoCal Breathe Free Sinus & Allergy Centers offers a variety of testing and treatment options to provide lasting relief for people who suffer from sinus problems or allergies. The office is located on Buena Vista Street in Burbank.
