Rep. Jimmy Gomez, who represents California’s 34th district in the U.S. Congress, recently posted a series of tweets addressing issues ranging from immigration to alleged actions by former President Donald Trump.
On January 31, 2026, Gomez commented on the release of a boy named Liam and his father after a period of separation. He wrote, “After days of separation and fear, Liam and his father are going home. This only happened because people showed up, communities organized, and elected officials fought for answers. Liam’s release proves that pressure matters, and we can win when we fight back.”
On February 2, 2026, Gomez referenced former President Trump in another post: “Six months ago, Trump said these files were made up. Now they’re being deleted. Strange how “made up” things suddenly need to be deleted, huh Donnie…”
Later that day, he continued his criticism of Trump’s spending habits with a tweet stating: “Trump will throw $200 million of taxpayer dollars at anything when he’s feeling blue: -$200M for Kristi’s private jets -$200M to destroy the White House -$200M to close down the Kennedy Center”
Gomez has served in Congress since 2017 after replacing Xavier Becerra and previously held office in the California State Assembly from 2012 to 2017. Born in Orange County in 1974 and currently residing in Los Angeles, Gomez is an alumnus of the University of California, Los Angeles.
