Rep. Jimmy Gomez, who represents California’s 34th district in the U.S. Congress, recently posted a series of tweets addressing both community celebrations and national political concerns.

On April 5, 2026, Gomez shared a holiday message to his constituents: “Happy Easter, Los Angeles! Wishing you and your loved ones a reflective and joyous Easter Sunday “.

The following day, on April 6, 2026, Gomez criticized an incident involving immigration enforcement: “A soldier preparing to deploy for our country brought his new wife to base so they could start planning their life together. Instead, ICE handcuffed her and ripped her away. Trump is turning what should have been one of the happiest times in this couple’s life into a nightmare.”

On April 7, 2026, Gomez commented on national security and leadership in Congress: “The 25th Amendment exists for moments like this. Threatening to wipe out an entire civilization is unhinged and will cost lives. This has already triggered a global economic crisis and could spiral into something far worse. Mike Johnson must bring Congress back now so we can stop”.

Gomez has served as the representative for California’s 34th district since 2017 after replacing Xavier Becerra. Before joining Congress, he was a member of the California State Assembly from 2012 to 2017. Born in Orange County in 1974, Gomez resides in Los Angeles and holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Los Angeles.
