On February 17, 2026, Rep. Gomez posted a critical remark regarding the president, stating, “How soon until he forgets he’s President https://t.co/7YCJEeV5RL”. Later that same day, he addressed the observance of Ramadan within his constituency by writing, “Ramadan is a sacred time of reflection, fasting, and prayer. Wishing families and communities across Los Angeles a meaningful celebration! https://t.co/8LpHh6pqIV”.

Gomez has represented California’s 34th District in Congress since 2017 after replacing Xavier Becerra. Prior to his congressional service, he was a member of the California State Assembly from 2012 to 2017. Born in Orange County in 1974 and currently residing in Los Angeles at age 48, Gomez holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California, Los Angeles.
