Rep. Jimmy Gomez, who represents California’s 34th district in the U.S. Congress, recently posted a series of tweets addressing national politics and local initiatives.
On April 13, 2026, Gomez commented on recent statements by former President Donald Trump, writing: “There is something deeply wrong with a President who sees himself as Jesus and thinks it is okay to attack the Pope. Trump is attacking the faith of more than a billion Catholics around the world. This is not the behavior of a stable person.”
Later that day, Gomez shared two links without additional commentary: “https://t.co/mHWiIKQzHM https://t.co/TuX8rQBO1X”.
On April 14, 2026, he promoted an extension for a local art competition: “The deadline to enter the 2026 Congressional Art Competition has been extended to Wednesday, 4/22! Submit your artwork to my Downtown LA district office for a chance to have your work displayed in the U.S. Capitol building in DC! Learn more here https://t.co/xjXesefqsH https://t.co/onVVXLRM5p”.
Gomez has served in Congress since 2017 after succeeding Xavier Becerra and previously worked in the California State Assembly from 2012 to 2017. Born in Orange County in 1974 and currently residing in Los Angeles, Gomez holds a BA from UCLA.
