Rep. Jimmy Gomez, U.S. Congressman representing California’s 34th district since 2017, posted a series of statements on December 3, 2025, criticizing former President Donald Trump’s policies and outlining his own legislative response.

In an early morning post, Gomez commented on the impact of Trump-era policies on children: “We need to suddenly stop feeding Trump and see how he likes it. It might be the only way for him to understand how starving kids feel when he does it to them.” (December 3, 2025).

Later that day, Gomez alleged misuse of federal funds under Trump: “Trump could end the housing crisis, but he spent $175B to turn ICE & CBP into his national police force that terrorizes our communities. I introduced a bill to reinvest Trump’s unaccountable slush fund into a new housing affordability boom.” (December 3, 2025).

In another post that evening, Gomez promoted new legislation aimed at addressing housing affordability: “While Americans are struggling, Republicans are handing over $175B for Trump’s private national police force. I introduced the Make Housing Affordable & Defend Democracy Act, our solution which will take Trump’s $175 BILLION slush fund and redirect it to end the housing crisis.” (December 3, 2025).

Gomez has served in Congress since replacing Xavier Becerra in 2017 and previously held office in the California State Assembly from 2012 to 2017. Born in Orange County in 1974 and now residing in Los Angeles, Gomez is a graduate of UCLA.
