Rep. Jimmy Gomez, a U.S. Congressman representing California’s 34th district since 2017, posted a series of critical tweets about former President Donald Trump on October 21 and 22, 2025. In the posts, Gomez addressed the ongoing government shutdown, rising consumer prices, and concerns about healthcare, while also accusing Trump of prioritizing personal interests.
Later that day, he alleged that Trump sought personal financial gain from the Justice Department, posting, “Trump wants the Justice Department, which he controls, to pay him $230 MILLION dollars. Yep, you read that right. Trump is looting our government like his own private piggy bank. Meanwhile, working families struggle to buy groceries. WAKE UP, America.”
On October 22, Gomez commented on Trump’s statements, asking, “Does he think saying it out loud makes it true?”
Gomez, who was born in Orange County, California in 1974 and currently resides in Los Angeles, has been active in politics for over a decade, previously serving in the California State Assembly from 2012 to 2017. He succeeded Xavier Becerra in Congress and holds a BA from the University of California, Los Angeles.
These recent posts are part of Gomez’s broader pattern of criticizing Trump’s actions and policies, particularly during periods of political and economic instability.
