Rep. Jimmy Gomez, a U.S. Congressman representing California’s 34th district since 2017, posted a series of tweets on February 25, 2026, criticizing former President Donald Trump’s policies and rhetoric.

In one post, Gomez commented on changes to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), writing “In other words, he kicked 2.4 million people off food stamps. You can’t be on food stamps if they no longer exist.” (February 25, 2026).

Later that evening, Gomez addressed trade policy under the Trump administration with another tweet: “Trump’s glazing his shitty tariffs again. Reminder: the trade deficit increased under Trump.” (February 25, 2026).

He also responded to statements made by Trump regarding election outcomes: ‘”strange things happen” = you lost’ (February 25, 2026).

Gomez has served in Congress since replacing Xavier Becerra in 2017 and previously held office in the California State Assembly from 2012 to 2017. Born in Orange County in 1974 and currently residing in Los Angeles, Gomez holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California, Los Angeles.
