Rep. Jimmy Gomez, a U.S. Congressman representing California’s 34th district since 2017, marked several occasions in recent social media posts, including Presidents Day, the passing of Rev. Jesse Jackson, and Lunar New Year.
On February 16, 2026, Gomez posted a message commemorating Presidents Day: “Happy Presidents Day 250 years and still ZERO kings!”
The following day, February 17, 2026, he acknowledged the death of civil rights leader Jesse Jackson: “Today we lost Rev. Jesse Jackson, a giant of the civil rights movement who never stopped pushing this country to be better. My heart is with his loved ones and the millions he inspired around the world.”
Later on February 17, Gomez extended greetings for Lunar New Year to his constituents in Los Angeles: “Happy Lunar New Year, Los Angeles! Wishing all a happy, healthy, and prosperous Year of the Horse!”
Gomez has served in Congress since replacing Xavier Becerra in 2017 and previously represented his community in the California State Assembly from 2012 to 2017. Born in Orange County in 1974 and currently residing in Los Angeles, Gomez holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from UCLA.
