Rep. Jimmy Gomez, a U.S. Congressman representing California’s 34th district since 2017, posted several messages on his social media account during the first week of November 2025, addressing Election Day in Los Angeles and making pointed remarks about national political figures.
On November 4, 2025, Gomez urged Los Angeles residents to participate in the election process. In his post, he wrote: “It’s Election Day, Los Angeles! Polls are open. It’s time to make your voice heard. Make sure you get out and VOTE!”
Later that day, Gomez commented on former President Donald Trump’s activities amid ongoing concerns about food insecurity in the United States. He stated: “God forbid President Trump misses his ‘obligatory’ billionaire Halloween party while MILLIONS of Americans starve. There’s no saving these people…” This post appeared as public discourse continued over wealth inequality and hunger in America.
On November 5, Gomez posted a lighter message referencing self-checkout experiences: “Buddy…the self-checkout is asking you to scan the barcode, not your license.”
Gomez has served in Congress since replacing Xavier Becerra in 2017 and previously represented constituents in the California State Assembly from 2012 to 2017. Born in Orange County in 1974 and currently residing in Los Angeles, Gomez holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Los Angeles.
