WASHINGTON, DC – On May 29, Congresswoman Sydney Kamlager-Dove (CA-37) released the following statement in recognition of Memorial Day:

“This Memorial Day, we honor the sacrifices of our service members. Our hearts weigh heavily with grief and loss for those we miss. Across the country and in our District, men and women have answered the call to serve, knowing that they are facing danger and uncertainty. Yet still, with courage and at great cost, they have fought to defend our most fundamental freedoms.

“Our nation was established on the principles of liberty, justice, and democracy, and the members of our military are a critical part of our continued promotion of these values. As a Member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, where I am constantly reminded of how fragile democracies are here at home and abroad, I am grateful for the determination of many who have worked to actualize the values we hold dear.

“Whether you commemorate today at a parade, a memorial, or quietly in your heart, I join Americans across the nation in uplifting the legacy of the members of our military as the United States works to promote freedom and liberty around the globe.”
