Congresswoman Sydney Kamlager-Dove, who represents California’s 37th district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of statements on social media addressing trade with Africa and recent actions by former President Donald Trump.
On January 13, 2026, Kamlager-Dove wrote: “Yesterday, I was proud to vote to reauthorize the long-awaited African Growth and Opportunity Act to restore much needed trade and investment with the African continent. Africa is home to the youngest and fastest growing population on the planet. We must invest in Africa’s”.
The following day, she commented on former President Trump’s actions towards American workers, stating: “Trump just showed his true feelings towards working Americans https://t.co/svKwVhZEvI” (January 14, 2026).
Later that evening, Kamlager-Dove criticized the language used by members of the Trump Administration: “If the Trump Administration is so upset with people calling them Nazis, they should stop using Nazi slogans. Despicable, evil, and anti-American. https://t.co/i0lgLM6bqc” (January 14, 2026).
Sydney Kamlager-Dove has represented California’s 37th District since replacing Karen Bass in 2023. Before her current role in Congress, she served in both the California State Assembly from 2018 to 2021 and the California Senate from 2021 to 2023. Born in Chicago in 1972 and currently residing in Los Angeles at age 50, Kamlager-Dove graduated from the University of Southern California with a BA in 1994.
