Congresswoman Sydney Kamlager-Dove, who represents California’s 37th district in the U.S. Congress, recently addressed key issues facing Los Angeles in a series of social media posts on February 3, 2026.
In her first post, Kamlager-Dove expressed optimism about the city’s future and upcoming international events: “The State of the City is bright! I look forward to working alongside Mayor Bass and city partners to ensure our people, cultures, and communities shine as the world turns its eyes to our city for the 2026 World Cup, the 2028 Olympics, and beyond.” (posted at 16:58 UTC).
Later that day, she turned attention to public health concerns: “Measles is on the rise. Now is the time to get you and your family vaccinated if you have not done so already. If you think you may have been exposed, contact your health care provider immediately for guidance.” (posted at 18:59 UTC).
In a third statement posted in the evening, Kamlager-Dove commented on Department of Homeland Security funding debates: “Trump’s DHS already has enough money to bankroll its lawlessness for the next seven years. ICE Barbie doesn’t need two more weeks of funding to ‘get by’ while Democrats negotiate reforms. I was a hell no on DHS funding last week, and I was a hell no again this week.” (posted at 21:38 UTC).
Sydney Kamlager-Dove began serving in Congress in 2023 after replacing Karen Bass. She previously served in both chambers of California’s legislature—the State Assembly from 2018 to 2021 and State Senate from 2021 to 2023. Born in Chicago in 1972 and currently residing in Los Angeles, Kamlager-Dove holds a BA from the University of Southern California.
