Congresswoman Sydney Kamlager-Dove, who represents California’s 37th district in the U.S. Congress, addressed several issues in a series of posts on February 22, 2026.

In her first post, Kamlager-Dove raised concerns about the death of Ruben Ray Martinez, writing on February 22: “ICE killed Ruben Ray Martinez, a U.S. citizen—and you likely haven’t heard about it because DHS has been covering it up for nearly a year. My heart breaks for his family, who deserve immediate answers and an independent investigation into his death. ICE will be held accountable.”

Later that day, she commented on the legacy of civil rights leader Jesse Jackson and criticized Speaker Johnson’s actions regarding funeral honors: “Jesse Jackson shaped America as we know it and inspired us to live up to our nation’s founding ideals. He should lie in state at the Capitol. Shame on Speaker Johnson.”

In another post directed at young constituents, Kamlager-Dove encouraged high school students from her district to participate in a national art competition: “CA-37 high school students, it’s that time of the year again! Submit your artwork to the 2026 Congressional Art Competition by April 16 for a chance to have it displayed in the halls of Congress.”

Kamlager-Dove has represented California’s 37th district since replacing Karen Bass in 2023. Before her tenure in Congress, she served in both the California State Assembly and Senate between 2018 and 2023. Born in Chicago in 1972 and now residing in Los Angeles, she graduated from the University of Southern California with a BA in 1994.
