Congresswoman Sydney Kamlager-Dove, who represents California’s 37th district in the U.S. Congress, recently addressed a range of policy issues on her social media account, including federal job training programs, local heat wave preparedness, and election integrity.
On August 20, 2025, Kamlager-Dove highlighted the anniversary of a significant federal workforce initiative. She wrote: “61 years ago, President Johnson signed the law that created Job Corps—a lifeline that provides 60k low-income American youth with career training & housing every year. As Trump moves to shutter this vital program, I’ll keep fighting to protect Job Corps and its students.”
The following day, August 21, she expressed appreciation for local efforts to address extreme weather events. In her post she stated: “Thank you, @MayorofLA, for taking proactive steps to protect our community as the heat wave approaches. Helpful resources—including information on cooling centers—are linked below. Stay cool, stay hydrated, and most importantly, stay safe! https://t.co/cdr1d6qKiR”
Later on August 21, Kamlager-Dove commented on redistricting developments in Texas and California. She said: “Yesterday, Texas Republicans rammed through their maps that steal seats from Democrats—at Trump’s request. Today, @CAgovernor & our state legislature made one thing clear: we won’t let Trump rig the midterms. Unlike Texas, Californians will have a say at the polls in November. https://t.co/tpCsZMzvke”
Sydney Kamlager-Dove has served in Congress since 2023 after succeeding Karen Bass as representative for California’s 37th district; she previously held positions in both the California State Assembly and Senate between 2018 and 2023. Born in Chicago in 1972 and currently residing in Los Angeles at age 50, Kamlager-Dove is an alumna of the University of Southern California.
