Congresswoman Sydney Kamlager-Dove, who represents California’s 37th district in the U.S. Congress, recently addressed a range of national and international issues on her social media account.

On August 27, 2025, Kamlager-Dove criticized former President Donald Trump’s actions regarding Dr. Cook, writing, “Trump wants to crash the economy & your 401k because he’s afraid of accomplished Black women. Trump’s illegal attempt to fire Dr. Cook, a highly respected economist excelling in her role, isn’t just misogynistic & racist—it’s an authoritarian power grab by a very small man.”

Later that day, she commented on violence in schools following an incident in Minnesota: “I am devastated by the senseless shooting at a Minneapolis Catholic School. My heart is with the families grieving the young lives lost too soon and with all who were injured. No student should ever fear for their safety in school. America must do better.”

On August 28, 2025, Kamlager-Dove addressed recent U.S.-India trade tensions: “Today, Trump enacted 50% Temper Tariffs on India—a strategic partner—that threaten to throw away decades of careful diplomacy & trust-building. If the US & India don’t reach a deal, our mutually beneficial partnership could suffer lasting damage. We must strengthen bilateral”

Sydney Kamlager-Dove has served as the representative for California’s 37th district since replacing Karen Bass in 2023 and previously held positions in both the California State Assembly and Senate from 2018 through early 2023. Born in Chicago in 1972 and currently residing in Los Angeles, she graduated from the University of Southern California with a BA in 1994.
