Congresswoman Sydney Kamlager-Dove, who represents California’s 37th district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of tweets this week addressing recent political controversies involving former President Donald Trump and federal agencies.
On February 18, Kamlager-Dove criticized Trump’s efforts to remove an exhibit on the history of slavery at The President’s House in Philadelphia. She wrote, “Last week, I spoke out against Trump removing an exhibit on the history of slavery at The President’s House in Philadelphia. On Monday, a federal court ruled that erasing this history isn’t just immoral—it’s illegal. Now petty Trump is trying to appeal that ruling. Shame.”
The following day, she commented on job performance related to unnamed individuals, stating on February 19: “I’d tell you to get to work because it’s Wednesday but neither of you should have your jobs”.
Later that same day, Kamlager-Dove addressed allegations concerning media censorship: “.@colbertlateshow was allegedly told to can an interview with a Dem Senate candidate over FCC concerns. If true, it’s yet another example of Trump & Brendan Carr stifling dissent and free press. Trump is just a feeble, demented man who’s afraid of taking a fat L in the midterms.”
Kamlager-Dove has served as representative for California’s 37th District since 2023 after succeeding Karen Bass. Prior to her current role in Congress, she served in the California State Assembly from 2018 to 2021 and then in the California Senate until her election to Congress in 2023. Born in Chicago in 1972 and currently residing in Los Angeles, Kamlager-Dove graduated from the University of Southern California with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1994.
