Congresswoman Sydney Kamlager-Dove, who represents California’s 37th district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of tweets on January 21, 2026, addressing immigration policy and national security issues related to former President Trump.

In her first tweet at 21:04 UTC, Kamlager-Dove wrote: “Trump is deporting survivors back to their abusers. That’s why @RepJayapal, @RepGwenMoore, @DemWomenCaucus, and I are demanding that DHS immediately reinstate protections for immigrant survivors and release those currently held in detention.”

Later that evening at 22:17 UTC, she commented on the use of export controls over advanced AI technologies: “Over the past year, Trump has turned one of our most important national security tools—export controls on advanced AI technologies—into his own personal negotiating device. Finally Republicans are doing something about it. Glad to support the AI Overwatch Act to constrain”

At 23:49 UTC on the same day, Kamlager-Dove responded directly to an unspecified claim by stating: “Of all your lies this is probably the dumbest”.

Sydney Kamlager-Dove began serving as U.S. Representative for California’s 37th district in 2023 after succeeding Karen Bass. She previously served in both chambers of California’s state legislature—the Assembly from 2018 to 2021 and the Senate from 2021 to 2023. Born in Chicago in 1972 and now residing in Los Angeles, Kamlager-Dove earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Southern California in 1994.
