Congresswoman Sydney Kamlager-Dove, who represents California’s 37th district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of messages on November 1, 2025, addressing both national policy and local cultural celebrations.
In a post made at 21:10 UTC, Kamlager-Dove highlighted ongoing concerns about food insecurity among Americans due to delays in the disbursement of Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) emergency funds. She wrote: “Two federal judges have ordered the Trump Administration to disburse SNAP emergency funds. Yet today, millions of Americans are still uncertain about where their next meal will come from without these benefits.
Trump must follow the law and release this funding NOW.” The message underscored her call for immediate action by the administration following judicial orders.
Later that evening, Kamlager-Dove shared two posts marking Día de los Muertos in Los Angeles. At 22:28 UTC, she tweeted in Spanish: “¡Feliz Dia de los Muertos, LA!
Juntos honramos, celebramos y mantenemos viva la memoria de nuestros seres queridos con ofrendas, velas y cempasúchiles.
¡Disfruten las festividades!” She followed with an English-language version: “Happy Día de los Muertos, LA!
Together, we honor, celebrate, keep our loved ones’ legacies alive with ofrendas, candles, and marigolds. Enjoy the festivities!”
Sydney Kamlager-Dove has served as the congressional representative for California’s 37th District since 2023 after succeeding Karen Bass. Before her tenure in Congress, she was a member of the California State Assembly from 2018 to 2021 and served in the California Senate between 2021 and 2023. Born in Chicago in 1972 and currently residing in Los Angeles at age 50, Kamlager-Dove is an alumna of the University of Southern California.
