Congresswoman Sydney Kamlager-Dove, who represents California’s 37th district in the U.S. Congress, recently posted a series of statements on her official social media account addressing reproductive rights, immigration policy, and student loan repayment changes.
On May 6, 2026, Kamlager-Dove stated: “Mifepristone is health care, period. It must remain accessible for women across the country, no matter which state they live in. Proud to join @HouseJudiciary & 250+ Congressional Democrats in filing an amicus brief to protect this vital reproductive care.”
Later that day, she commented on recent developments regarding U.S. immigration policy: “This is a big win in the fight against Trump’s racist immigration policies. We must preserve and expand legal pathways for those who want to pursue better lives in the U.S. I’ll keep fighting to ensure those who come here can thrive.” This post followed news about changes or reversals of Trump-era immigration measures.
In a subsequent message on May 6, Kamlager-Dove addressed changes to federal student loan repayment plans: “Trump is attacking student borrowers. The Trump Administration has eliminated the Saving on a Valuable Education (SAVE) Plan, making it harder for Americans to afford college. SAVE enrollees have until July 1 to change their repayment plans. Contact my office if you need help.”
Sydney Kamlager-Dove has served as a member of Congress since 2023 after succeeding Karen Bass and previously held positions in both the California State Assembly and Senate from 2018 through early 2023. Born in Chicago in 1972 and currently residing in Los Angeles, she graduated from the University of Southern California with a BA in 1994.
