Congresswoman Sydney Kamlager-Dove, who represents California’s 37th district in the U.S. Congress, recently took to social media to voice her concerns over recent political developments and actions by Republican lawmakers and former President Donald Trump.
On May 8, 2026, Kamlager-Dove criticized a Supreme Court decision and legislative action in Tennessee. She wrote, “It’s only been a week since SCOTUS’ disastrous ruling gutting a key provision of the Voting Rights Act, and now Tennessee Republicans have passed a racist gerrymander designed to dilute Black voting power. This is the Republican playbook nationwide. It’s not just about helping https://t.co/eEngNXIIwi”.
Later that day, she commented on former President Donald Trump’s policies with a brief post: “Donald Trump wants to take away your afternoon sweet treat https://t.co/wb5w4eT2Lt”.
In another post on May 8, she expressed distrust toward current government officials regarding fiscal policy: “I don’t trust you or anyone in this administration of grifters to save us any tax dollars or increase efficiency https://t.co/RYBElvuYF4 https://t.co/B0Y5cTGR7p”.
Sydney Kamlager-Dove has served in Congress since 2023 after succeeding Karen Bass. Prior to her current role, she was a member of the California State Assembly from 2018 to 2021 and served in the California Senate from 2021 to 2023. Born in Chicago in 1972, Kamlager-Dove currently resides in Los Angeles and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Southern California.
