Congresswoman Sydney Kamlager-Dove, who represents California’s 37th district in the U.S. Congress, recently used her social media platform to address a range of international and domestic issues, including tariffs on Brazilian coffee, the conflict in Sudan, and concerns about press freedom.
On November 1, 2025, Kamlager-Dove posted about a Senate agreement regarding tariffs: “The Senate agrees: Americans shouldn’t pay $10 for coffee to avenge Trump’s Brazilian boo. Yet, Speaker Johnson won’t let us vote on my resolution w/ @RepMeeks to end the 50% tariffs. Bolsonaro was convicted—why should Americans foot the bill for Trump’s attacks on democracy?” (November 1, 2025).
Later that day, she addressed the situation in Sudan: “As the RSF’s atrocities reach a fever pitch in Sudan, it’s imperative that we act to stop this genocide, which I called on Sec. Blinken to designate last year. The US must hold the UAE accountable for its support of the RSF & halt weapons transfers until they stop arming the RSF.” (November 1, 2025).
In another post from November 1, Kamlager-Dove commented on former President Donald Trump’s approach to media and public information: “Trump is assaulting the free press at home and abroad, allowing disinformation to flourish around the world. As Ranking Member of the subcommittee in charge of public diplomacy, I’ll continue to hold Kari Lake accountable for her gutting of real news to make way for propaganda.”
Sydney Kamlager-Dove has represented California’s 37th District since replacing Karen Bass in Congress in 2023. Before her current role, she served in both the California State Assembly and State Senate between 2018 and 2023. Born in Chicago in 1972 and currently residing in Los Angeles, Kamlager-Dove holds a BA from the University of Southern California.
