Congresswoman Sydney Kamlager-Dove, representing California’s 37th district, has expressed her views on recent political and economic issues through a series of tweets. Having replaced Karen Bass in 2023, Kamlager-Dove has been an active voice in Congress since then. She previously served in the California State Assembly and Senate.

On May 5, 2025, Kamlager-Dove criticized former President Donald Trump for his stance on the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party. In her tweet, she stated: “It was once US foreign policy to fight the Nazis. Now, Trump is going out of his way to protect AfD, the Nazis’ ideological successors. White supremacy is poisonous and US foreign policy should not be used to promote it.”

Later that day, Kamlager-Dove addressed economic concerns related to Hollywood’s film industry. She argued against raising movie ticket prices as a solution to bring production back to Los Angeles. She tweeted: “We must bring jobs back to Hollywood. But raising the price of a movie ticket from $20 to $40 does absolutely nothing to bring production back to LA. These illegal temper tariffs will devastate the film industry & moviegoers.”

In another tweet posted on May 5, 2025, she highlighted the need for incentives rather than tariffs to retain film production in Los Angeles. Praising collaboration with California’s governor, she stated: “LA is home to the best crews in the world. Production isn’t leaving because of ‘incompetence’—it’s because we need to offer more incentives. @CAgovernor is a great partner in this. Let’s all join forces to find real ways to bring back production & jobs—these tariffs ain’t it.”

Sydney Kamlager-Dove was born in Chicago in 1972 and currently resides in Los Angeles. She graduated from the University of Southern California with a BA.
