Congresswoman Sydney Kamlager-Dove, who represents California’s 37th district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of tweets on May 5 and 6, 2026, raising concerns about taxpayer spending related to former President Donald Trump and offering commentary on political discourse.
On May 5, Kamlager-Dove questioned Republican support for funding renovations at Trump’s property: “Trump literally said his ballroom would not cost taxpayers a penny. Why are Republicans champing at the bit to fund it?? Even if this money is for ‘security,’ it’s $1 BILLION of your tax dollars that wouldn’t have been spent if Trump didn’t tear down the East Wing.”
Continuing her commentary on May 6, she posted: “The force is not very hidden, he actually never shuts the hell up”. Later that day, she shared another post containing only links: “https://t.co/LDZcuf1jO7 https://t.co/AxaVmLDf03”.
Sydney Kamlager-Dove has served in Congress since 2023 after replacing Karen Bass. She previously held positions in both the California State Assembly (2018–2021) and the California Senate (2021–2023). Born in Chicago in 1972 and currently residing in Los Angeles, Kamlager-Dove graduated from the University of Southern California with a BA in 1994.
