Congresswoman Sydney Kamlager-Dove, who represents California’s 37th district in the U.S. Congress, has recently made several statements on social media regarding key legislative and policy issues.
On April 30, 2026, Kamlager-Dove stated her opposition to proposed cuts to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) in the Republican-backed Farm Bill, posting, “I’m with you, Oren. I’m voting against continued SNAP cuts in Republicans’ Farm Bill because no child should ever go to school, home, or anywhere in between with an empty belly.”
Later that day, she criticized former President Donald Trump’s spending decisions and their impact on healthcare costs. She wrote on April 30, 2026: “That $25 billion could’ve extended ACA premium tax credits for a full year, preventing your health care premiums from doubling. And the real number is likely double that. Instead, Trump blew it on his illegal, reckless war—sticking Americans with the bill AND higher costs.”
On May 1, 2026, Kamlager-Dove highlighted her participation in discussions aimed at strengthening ties between the United States and India. She posted: “Great to join the Congressional Study Group on India to discuss the importance of strengthening U.S.-India relations and the incredible contributions of the Indian American community in my district. I’m committed to enhancing cooperation on the Quad, creative economies…”
Sydney Kamlager-Dove has represented California’s 37th district since 2023 after succeeding Karen Bass. Before joining Congress, she served in both the California State Assembly and Senate between 2018 and 2023. Born in Chicago in 1972 and currently residing in Los Angeles, Kamlager-Dove earned a BA from the University of Southern California in 1994.
