At 5:05 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 23, the Washington State Cougars, featuring former Salesian High School standout Erik Rodriguez, edged out the Cal Poly Mustangs 5-4 in NCAA Division I baseball.

Baggett Stadium hosted the contest, marking the fourth meeting between the Cougars and Mustangs this season. The season series remains tied.

Rodriguez gave up one earned run and issued one walk.

Washington State is set to play next on Thursday, Feb. 26, against the BYU Cougars at Bohl Diamond at Blair Field.
