Los Angeles County Fire Department issued the following announcement on Nov. 27.
Candles are used in many holiday celebrations but, when left unattended, they can be dangerous.
More than 1/3 of home decoration fires are started by candles.
Please remember #HolidaySafety:
Consider using battery-operated flameless candles.
Keep candles at least 12” away from all flammable materials, decorations, and wrapping paper.
Extinguish candles before leaving a room and keeping them out of reach of children and pets.
