City of Los Angeles issued the following announcement on June 30.
On June 22, 2022, The City of Los Angeles released a new version of its official website at a new web address, “LAcity.gov”.
June 22 marks the anniversary of when the cornerstone was laid at Los Angeles’ City Hall in 1927, a building that came to symbolize public access to Los Angeles’ government services. In this online era we live in, the new “LAcity.gov” is a digital cornerstone for modern public access to the myriad of City of Los Angeles government services for our diverse communities.
“.Gov” domains are registered by the U.S. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) and are only provided to legitimate government entities in the United States. Therefore, Angelenos who access our “.gov” website can have additional assurance they are dealing with the real City of Los Angeles secure government website. As such, the City of L.A. will be releasing more “.gov” websites for various City departments over the coming year.
The new “.gov” domain for websites, starting with “lacity.gov”, is just one part of the City’s long-term plans to improve how residents, businesses, and visitors digitally engage with L.A. City government. Upcoming plans include multilingual translation, sitewide use of electronic signatures, online bill payments, and more. As a three-time #1 Digital City in the United States (Center for Digital Government), the City of Los Angeles continues to transform its online services to ensure simple and easy-to-use access for the diverse communities that make up Los Angeles.
