Later that day, Gomez criticized the tariffs imposed by the former president, referring to them as "dumb." He wrote, "My statement on Trump’s dumb tariffs https://t.co/e9PxmQtRX0".
Continuing his criticism, Rep. Gomez stated there was no coherent plan behind the tariffs, which he argued increased the costs of essential items like groceries, clothes, and gas. On the same day, he posted, "There’s no plan here. Just Trump’s dumb tariffs that make everyday life more expensive: groceries, clothes, gas, cars, appliances—everything working families rely on.
