Rep. Jimmy Gomez, who has represented California's 34th district in the U.S. Congress since 2017, recently voiced his opposition to certain fiscal policies in a series of tweets. Prior to serving in Congress, Rep. Gomez was a member of the California State Assembly from 2012 to 2017. Born in 1974 and residing in Los Angeles, Gomez attended the University of California, Los Angeles, where he earned his bachelor's degree.

On April 3, 2025, Rep. Gomez tweeted his reaction to political actions involving tax policy reforms and cuts to Medicaid. He praised Senator Booker for his efforts, stating, "Impressive feat from @SenBooker! Dems are ready to use every tool at our disposal to fight back Elon Musk’s and Trump’s plan to give tax breaks to billionaires and cut Medicaid."

In another tweet on the same day, dated April 3, 2025, he remarked on the economic situation under the Trump administration. Rep. Gomez noted the significance of a particular date in economic history, saying, "In time, historians will mark April 2, 2025 as the day when the Trump Slump ended and the Trump Recession officially began."

Subsequently, later on April 3, 2025, Gomez expressed concerns over upcoming economic changes for Americans. He criticized former President Trump and Republican congressmen, stating, "Tomorrow, working Americans will wake up to a changed economic reality thanks to the hubris and incompetence of Donald Trump, and the Republicans in Congress who refused to stop him. If you’re not scared, you’re not paying attention."
