SCHIFF SECURES MORE THAN $11 MILLION FOR LOCAL PRIORITIES IN 2023 OMNIBUS SPENDING BILL | CA U.S. House District 28
“Funding the government is one of the foremost responsibilities of Congress and I'm pleased that we've passed a bipartisan, bicameral piece of legislation that advances many significant priorities for our country, our state, and our community. The 2023 omnibus spending bill includes provisions to improve access to health care, especially for veterans. It will deliver emergency relief to the many communities across the nation reeling from natural disasters such as hurricanes and wildfires. And, just as critically, it includes the Electoral Count Reform and Presidential Transition Improvement Act, which will help ensure a peaceful transfer of power after a contested election. This legislation also includes more than $11 million to support fifteen local organizations that provide essential services to our community, from supporting vulnerable youth facing food insecurity to tackling the homelessness crisis in Los Angeles. I thank my colleagues for their tireless negotiations and look forward to seeing this legislation become law.”
