WASHINGTON, DC -- On April 27, Congresswoman Sydney Kamlager-Dove (CA-37) released a statement following the Senate vote to advance the passage of the Equal Rights Amendment:
“I applaud the Senate for voting on a resolution to advance the Equal Rights Amendment today. This historic action is a strong statement to women across the nation that even in a post-Roe era where women’s rights and freedoms are under attack – we see you – and Congressional Democrats stand strong in affirming women’s fundamental liberties.
“One-hundred years after the Equal Rights Amendment came to Congress, women in our nation still face extremist threats that restrict their ability to thrive in our democracy. Women are not second-class citizens, and enshrining the Equal Rights Amendment in our Constitution would be a positive step toward true equality for millions of women across our country. As a proud Vice-Chair of the new Equal Rights Amendment Caucus, I will always work to actualize our vision for democracy by ensuring that women receive the dignity and respect they deserve.”
