Rep. Jimmy Gomez, a congressman representing California's 34th district, has recently spoken out on social media platforms regarding the impact of Trump's tariffs on working families, and has highlighted other pressing issues such as proxy voting for new parents and the SignalGate controversy.

On April 4, 2025, Rep. Gomez addressed Congress by criticizing Trump's tariffs, describing them as "a tax on working families". "This week in Congress, I called out Trump’s tariffs for what they are—a tax on working families, fought for proxy voting for new parents, and pushed for accountability on SignalGate."

A day later on April 5, 2025, Rep. Gomez reiterated concerns over Trump's tariffs in a tweet suggesting their potential to exacerbate inflation. He wrote that the tariffs are "a tax on imported goods—and the bill lands squarely on us," urging the public to stay informed and to spread awareness. "Think inflation is bad now? Trump’s Tariffs are about to make it even worse."

Continuing his focus on the issue, on April 6, 2025, Rep. Gomez tweeted about the financial impact of the tariffs, stating they could cost families up to $3,800 extra this year. He pointed out that the tariffs are detrimental to American families, not other countries. "Did you know Trump’s tariffs could cost you up to $3,800 extra this year?"
