On February 2, 2025, Rep. Gomez commented on the impact of tariffs imposed by former President Trump. He stated that "Trump’s 25% tariffs are a tax on working people—plain and simple." He emphasized that these tariffs would result in increased costs for essential goods such as eggs, produce, electronics, and building materials.

On February 3, 2025, Rep. Gomez raised concerns about Elon Musk's access to the federal payment system. He suggested that this development could pose risks to Social Security and Medicare data while potentially benefiting Musk's companies SpaceX and Tesla over competitors. Gomez questioned if this was part of a broader plan by Trump to reduce Social Security and Medicaid benefits by stating "Is this the 1st step in Trump’s plan to cut Social Security & Medicaid?"

Later that day, he highlighted the contributions of immigrants in a post marking "A Day Without Immigrants." Rep. Gomez described immigrants as integral members of American society who strengthen the economy with their hard work and taxes paid: "They’re my mom, my dad...everyday people who work hard."
