On April 6, 2025, Rep. Gomez criticized former President Trump's tariff policies, arguing that they favor automation over job creation. He stated: "Trump’s team just admitted it: his tariffs won’t bring back jobs for people—they’ll bring in robots for automated labor.". Gomez contrasted this with the Democratic support for the CHIPS Act, which he claims will bring over 125,000 jobs to the U.S., further suggesting that Trump's policies run counter to the interests of American workers.

On April 7, 2025, Gomez raised concerns about the handling of war plans in unsecured communications, questioning the credibility of those responsible for their oversight. He posted: "They made war plans in an unsecured group chat—and now they want us to trust them to investigate the national security disaster they caused?" He called for an independent investigation, using the hashtags #FireHegseth and #FireWaltz.

Later that same day, Gomez addressed economic unease surrounding the stock market under Trump's policies. He remarked: "Trump doesn’t care about working people. The stock market is crashing, retirement savings are tanking, and jobs are next." He criticized the House GOP for their inaction, underscoring his concern over the financial wellbeing of Americans, many of whom are stock investors.
