Representative Jimmy Gomez, currently serving in the U.S. Congress and representing California’s 34th district, has been active on social media, offering commentary on a range of topics. His recent tweets provide insights into his perspective on various issues, from celebrating impactful figures to critiquing economic policies and political strategies.

On April 10, Gomez commemorated the birthday of the influential activist Dolores Huerta. He expressed his admiration by wishing her a happy birthday, recognizing her as a "fearless organizer, trailblazer, and a voice of justice." Gomez highlighted Huerta's impact by stating "Her words 'Sí se puede' still inspire generations to fight for what’s right."

Later on April 10, Gomez turned his focus to economic issues in a succinct critique of current economic policies. Reflecting on tariffs impacting "an island of penguins," he pointed out the negative consequences such as increased prices and declining markets, further suggesting that the administration’s promises of recovery lack credibility. His post conveyed skepticism with the assertion "These guys couldn’t organize a two-car parade."

On April 11, Gomez addressed former President Donald Trump’s economic strategies, specifically targeting "The Art of the Deal." According to Gomez, the book and its principles failed to deliver positive results. He argued that it "nearly crashed the economy, tanked the markets, alienated allies, and jacked up costs for working folks" while emphasizing that the impacts are still felt today. He strongly opined that "The economic dumpster fire he started? It’s still burning, you fool."

Representative Gomez, who took office in 2017 succeeding Xavier Becerra, has a background in state politics having served in the California State Assembly. Born in Orange County in 1974, he now resides in Los Angeles and is an alumnus of the University of California, Los Angeles.
