WASHINGTON, DC – Congresswoman Sydney Kamlager-Dove (CA-37) released the following statement today in celebration of Pride Month:

“As a member of the Congressional Equality Caucus and longtime advocate for the LGBTQ+ community, I support the Caucus' mission to promote equality for all people, and I want to wish a happy Pride Month to the LGBTQ+ community in the 37th Congressional District.

"Pride is a time to celebrate LGBTQ+ people, history, and culture. I am looking forward to attending Pride events across my District in the coming days to take part in the festivities and spend time with community members. While the United States has made great strides in recent years toward advancing equality for all, we have been facing a recent onslaught of extremist legislation determined to roll back protections and threaten the safety and security of LGBTQ+ individuals – at home and abroad.

"No one should face threats on their lives for simply being themselves. I will always oppose extremist attacks on the LGBTQ+ community and will continue to work with my colleagues to ensure protections for everyone, regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity, or sex characteristics."
