Congresswoman Sydney Kamlager-Dove, representing California's 37th district in the U.S. Congress, has shared a series of tweets reflecting on significant political events and figures. These tweets highlight her commitment to carrying forward legacies and addressing current political issues.
On January 21, 2025, Congresswoman Kamlager-Dove commemorated Shirley Chisholm's historic achievement as the first Black Congresswoman in the United States. She emphasized the ongoing impact of Chisholm’s legacy among Black Congresswomen today, stating: "56 years ago today, Shirley Chisholm broke barriers when she was sworn in as our nation’s first Black Congresswoman. Now 29 strong, us Black Congresswomen will carry on her legacy and break out our folding chairs to ensure we have a seat at the table the next four years."
Later that day, Kamlager-Dove expressed gratitude for President Biden's negotiations that facilitated the return of Ryan Corbett and William McKenty from Taliban control. She also criticized former President Donald Trump for leaving behind vetted Afghan refugees, saying: "I am incredibly grateful that Ryan Corbett & William McKenty are coming home thanks to President Biden's negotiations. Joe Biden made this deal to ensure they could escape the brutality of the Taliban—the 1,660 vetted Afghan refugees Donald Trump just stranded deserve the same."
On January 22, 2025, Kamlager-Dove critiqued Donald Trump's tax plans for corporations and billionaires without addressing consumer product costs. She stated: "Donald Trump has big plans to cut taxes for corporations and billionaires so they can line their pockets. But he has no plans to lower the costs of the products they sell."
