Rep. Jimmy Gomez, who has been serving in the U.S. Congress representing California’s 34th district since 2017, recently expressed his concerns on social media regarding several policies and events. Gomez, a Democrat from Los Angeles, shared his views on tariffs, child care funding, and Black History Month through a series of tweets.

On February 1, 2025, Rep. Jimmy Gomez criticized former President Donald Trump's new tariffs on Mexico and Canada. In his tweet "Today, Trump’s blanket tariffs on Mexico and Canada begin. That’s a 25% tax on groceries, electronics, cars—including replacement parts—and toys for working families already dealing with high housing and child care costs. Hey Trump, you’re supposed to lower costs, not raise them!", he highlighted the potential financial burden these tariffs could impose on American families.

Later that day at 20:53 UTC, Gomez addressed another issue related to early childhood education funding. He stated "This week, I saw firsthand how harmful Trump’s attempt to illegally freeze Head Start funds could have been. Just 1 month without support could shut down preschools and leave parents stranded." He emphasized his commitment to protecting child care resources against such measures.

In another post at 22:19 UTC the same day, Rep. Gomez celebrated Black History Month by acknowledging the contributions of Black Americans across various fields. He tweeted "Happy #BlackHistoryMonth! From arts, science, culture and sports to the civil rights milestones we benefit from today... Black history is American history."
