On March 10, 2025, Rep. Gomez visited Nueva Maravilla in East Los Angeles to engage with seniors concerned about potential changes to the Social Security Administration (SSA). He tweeted: "Congress on Your Doorstep! Stopped by Nueva Maravilla in #EastLA, where seniors shared concerns about DOGE’s plans to dismantle @SSAgov with mass layoffs and longer wait times for customer service. I assured them my office is here to help and we’ll keep pushing to protect SS."

Later that day, Gomez reflected on his personal background as the child of immigrants without health insurance during his upbringing. He noted how these experiences influenced his path into politics and labor advocacy: "Being a child of immigrants and not having health insurance growing up—it’s shaped my worldview and led me to the labor movement. That’s why I’m in Congress today: to make sure every family has a fair shot at success."

In another tweet from March 10, he briefly commented on economic trends under former President Trump with the phrase: "Trump Slump in action..."
