House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy has recently released a statement on the impeachment plans for President Donald Trump.
Echoed on his Twitter post, McCarthy stated that “impeaching the President with just 12 days left will only divide our country more. I've reached out to President-elect Biden today & plan to speak to him about how we must work together to lower the temperature and unite the country to solve America’s challenges.”
House Democrats have introduced the article on impeachment charging the President with incitement of insurrection, stating that he must be impeached for high crimes and misdemeanors.
McCarthy also mentioned that he has reached out to the president and told him he has an important role in being able to pacify the protesters and urge them to move forward toward the healing process.
According to McCarthy, leaders must refocus efforts on serving America as the country is still facing other difficulties including threats from Russia, China, Iran, and the coronavirus.
“United we can deliver the peace, strength, and prosperity our country needs. Divided, we fail.”
McCarthy has deemed the Washington riot “unacceptable, undemocratic, and un-American.” He calls for a peaceful transition of power.
