Metro is offering free rides this Earth Day on April 22! The entire system will be free to ride as much as you want on April 22 including buses, trains, Metro Bike, and Metro Micro. Turnstiles will be unlocked at rail stations, and there’s no need to tap at fare boxes on buses or validators.
Recognizing the importance of public transit in improving the environment and public health, Metro has made this generous gesture to encourage people to utilize sustainable transportation options. As stated by Metro, this initiative is a way to acknowledge transit's role in addressing climate change.
In the spirit of Earth Day, Metro invites everyone to take advantage of this opportunity to explore the city while reducing their carbon footprint. Whether it's a daily commute, a leisurely trip, or a chance to discover new destinations, Metro's free rides on April 22 offer a convenient and eco-friendly way to get around.
As Metro encourages, "Please come on out and have a ride — or rides! — on us." To plan your journey on Earth Day, various user-friendly tools like Google Maps, Apple Maps, the Transit app, the Moovit app, and metro.net can assist in mapping out your route and exploring the diverse destinations accessible via Metro.
